Marijuana is legal in only a few states in the US such as Colorado and Washington. Medical Marijuana is legal in California and Minnesota. Almost two-thirds of this generation republican young adults are for legalizing. Between Republicans and Democrats under the age of 34, there is a 14% gap saying that they are in favor of legalizing it. In the older age group which is 35-50, 47% of republicans were for legalizing, compared to the Democrats who had 61% for. "The survey on attitudes on marijuana legalization by political affiliation largely mirrors a survey Pew conducted a year ago concerning same-sex marriage." More than 50% of Republicans under 30 were for gays and lesbians where as 77% of Democrats were for. This issue came up before the 2016 presidential election. Two parties were in a controversy over the number of millennial who can vote.
