Kansas to ban use of welfare on tattoos, cruises, psychics
Kansas tries to put a stop to the spending of people's welfare on not important things like tattoos, cruises...etc. "It aims to encourage those receiving government aid under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to spend "more responsibly," said Kansas state Sen. Michael O'Donnell. The bill limits the money withdraws to $25 a day to prevent the beneficiary from using these funds inappropriately. O'Donnell also says that having welfare is about having a great life and prosperity. He wants welfare and the funds people receive to be put to use the way they are intended to be used for. Not getting nails done, buying lingerie, cruises, theme parks, dog shows, piercings, spas, drugs, and/or alcohol. Major support from the Republican was given to this bill when it was passed last week. . Republicans in the state legislature didn't outline how serious the welfare fraud problem was in the state. These restrictions seem to be working because the number of welfare beneficiaries that in fact declined it went from 17,600 in 2011 to 8,900 in 2014, "I just think we are simply saying to people, 'If you are asking for assistance in this state, you're sort of less than other people and we're going to tell you how and where to spend your money,'"
